So I was thinking to myself this afternoon "wow it's nice to have a set of retainers than actually fits and doesn't cause severe pain" I have been used to such pain the last month, it was such a change to not feel any. It was a good change, though. However, it wasn't long before some pain came around. I took my retainers out to eat something for dinner and I experienced a weird, sharp pain. It was the second time in my treatment it felt like the root of my tooth was close to the surface of being visible. I looked in the mirror and saw it was at a very weird angle in its' process of moving. (This was a tooth on the bottom towards the side that was tilted) My back tooth also looked like it wasn't lined with the others. I can tell they are in the process of moving. I will try to take a decent picture to show this change. The bottoms are pretty sore, but nothing unbearable. I did have to take out my retainers once tonight for 15 minutes just to let my teeth have a break. And there is a part of the retainer on my bottoms that is digging into my gums a bit. If it continues, I can always file it down. But I'm assuming it won't last long. Still the pain is better than it has been so I'm not too discouraged. I'm gonna keep on keeping on! Just wanted to make a note that it isn't as ideal as I earlier thought. It definitely isn't a concern, though.
PS...It's now a couple hours later and had to add this: Oragel=miracle. My sore gums are now semi numb. If you need relief from sore gums or tooth pain (I once used oragel when I had a bit of tooth decay that wasn't a cavity yet but hurt. the dentist ended up drilling/sanding it off without having to numb me since it was on the surface, but that day of pain before i went in was made better by oragel. which is why i luckily had some on hand!) oragel is my favorite. I'm so glad I just remembered I had some.
